This week, Karen LeBlanc, TV personality from “The Design Tourist” and trusted source on design, decor, and construction, featured our work on her popular blog, “HouseSpiration.”
After seeing the trends in this year’s Orlando Parade of Homes, LeBlanc interviewed our president, Mike Keesee, on the change in lifestyle and consumer preferences of the housing industry. Being as involved in the industry Mike is, he had quite a bit to say.
“The open plan with smaller bedrooms is one of the most popular now. People want to bring the family together in living areas instead of everyone having their own space to go to,” observes Mike Keesee. “The buzz today is right-sizing the home. The public in general wants a home that is livable to their lifestyle.” Rewind to the era of McMansions before the housing market fell through, and you will see why “right-sizing” is so influential in today’s home design. It’s not about smaller homes, but smarter spaces. In fact, square footage on the rise from previous years. “As the home grows in square footage the clients are looking for the formal areas in those plans,” says Keesee. Formal spaces are no longer being considered obsolete. Families are still finding a use and need for them, despite the growing trend for informal, multipurpose rooms.
